gratitude

Postby jadedtothemax on Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:39 pm

I just wanted to express my gratitude for this website. Just by posting today is a step toward gaining my self-respect back. I was amazed at how quicky I received a response from someone who has been contacted by cutejohny4u@yahoo.com. These scumsters never rest, do they? If my post helps just one person avoid the drama and histrionics that I received from this man, I will feel that a small piece of justice will have been served.

Glad to have helped. You bring up an important point too. By posting the details, other people can find this site and be saved from losing money to this scum. That can be far more satisfying than hurling a few angry words at them.

I just stumbled onto this site and as others have stated before me, this would have saved me quite a lot of headache. Anyway, thank you so much for setting it up and giving the internet a resource for combating these predators.

i too stumbled onto this site and yes i agree it is FANTASTIC ---- i have not been scammed --- i am too much of a cynic to believe someone can fall in love with me from a few emails --- but i am not arrogant enough to believe it will never happen --- so im pleased to do what i can to help educate people --- i suppose you could call me a baiter --- for various reasons i string scammers along ---- sadly i have deleted a LOT of emails and photos that i had accumulated but i will keep posting the ones that contact me --- i dont know what it is but i seem to attract a lot of scammers and cam girls :-o ---- not that ever agree to pay anything ---- ive had Ghana/Nigeria/Russian scammers contact me --- great to have somewhere i can share their details and maybe stop someone else from being scammed ---- best wishes to you all

Yes I would agree this site really is fantastic, mainly of course in it's aims and professional way it goes about achieving them, but I'm sure I'm not alone in finding some of the threads a fascinating read in a car crash sort of way too:oops:
I did once actually get scammed myself to the tune of about £20, for a phone I dispatched to a man/woman in Ghana, they played me very well and were utterly charming and entertaining , initially contacted me via person.com in 2007, I wasn't particularly looking for romance and she/he managed to get me on a bit of a guilt trip, what with having to constantly turn down offers of to marry me, bear me many healthy children and move to England and cook me good meals so in time I grow to look like a proper man ( I am a bit scrawny), I never received emails as all the correspondence was via IM, but I do have a few photo's which I could put up as they don't seem to be on your database, they're authentic shots of a (presumably) local girl rather than model shots etc. and were sent along with lots of photo's of Accra, I couldn't have gone there if I'd wanted to as I'm petrified of flying and anyway he/she was quite open about the fact they supported Arsenal.

A common theme running through a lot of the threads is people's struggle for closure and inability to let go, sadly I can see why many get drawn back in even when they know they've been scammed, your hard line on deletion of posts is both necessary and admirable. Of all the types of scammers I find the pro daters the most despicable, they're quite happy to see victims that they know love them and that they both profess to love and have met in the flesh, waste thousands of pounds just so that they can collect a percentage of this to fund their lifestyles.

Despite their veneer of respectability I would place them several rungs on the ladder below that of a good honest whore! It amazes me that the scammed still talk about these women in such positive tones “She is a nice girl”, no she's not she's just a damned good actress “nice” girls don't treat people like that!

Wayne, After working with you and FrumpyBB on the Jane C. Wallace/Wendy Jayne thread, forget and disregard my last post here. I, right now am focused on this site and all I can do to catch these people. I do not care what any government employee would say. Great job on this forum. I am on page 70 of the ebook and I want to do a write up and review on that. Should I start a new thread ?

If you wish to review the book, then please do. You can add it to the book thread in General.

I hate to burst your bubble on this one, but catching the scammers is nigh on impossible unless they're caught in the act of sending the emails. They use internet cafes to help protect their true identities and there's no way to prove who was on what terminal when once it's been sent.

Besides, all arrests that have ever been made in Nigeria were a result of intervention of major TV channels in the US, UK and Australia. They were a result of the reporters undercover investigations.

NO reports that were made by the ordinary victims to IC3 or EFCC ever resulted in any arrests.

As for arrests in the US: all arrests that have been made in the US were actually of victims. Those victims were cashing fake checks, sending fake checks, receiving stolen goods and collecting money WU. The vast majority of those poor people had NO idea whatsoever they were actually helping scammers. They thought they were doing legitimte work of issuing payroll checks, sending legitimate stuff to their "g/f" or "b/f" in Nigeria. They never imagined they were actually helping a Nigerian scammer.

However, there is a small amount of victims who know perfectly well what they are doing. They started as a victim, and then consciously turned into an accomplice. But again, it is a very small percentage. Most victims have no idea they are doing smth illegal.

Now, I am talking about romance scams ONLY. The few arrests of Nigerian scammers living in the US and UK were mostly connected to 419, not romance scams.

I am really grateful to this site

Postby notadumbblonde70 on Thu Dec 02, 2010 2:53 am

I just have to say how much this site has helped me. I have learned so much especially on how to spot a scammer, check IP addresses, emails and the pictures.... especially scamdigger. I have used that many times. I get about 10 a day on Cupid very frustrating. I think it is the same person. Why he feels I would fall for it, I don't know. I was approached by him once. When he asked for money I used a few choice words that I am sure my grandmother is rolling around in her grave after hearing them. Again thanks! Although I would never give money to someone I didn't know, it has helped me not to waste time.
