Discussion of scam and scambaiting NOT related to any particular scammer

Facebook Scammers

Postby totalmisfit on Thu Dec 01, 2011 4:47 pm

I got an email from a man and it was earily familiar to alot of the stories I've read on the forum. So I started checking things out. I never reply to these kind of emails because I am not looking for a relationship but this guy was using the same name as a friend of mine, only he inserted a middle name. He claimed to have graduated from the University of South Carolina but his grammar was not college level. He claims to live in Greenville, SC but is in West Africa building homes for homeless babies. I decided to chat this guy up........his facebook profile pic was fairly attractive, but they look like pictures of a model, not a of a building contractor. I started checking online and came across this site and I was creeped out by the stories I've read. I guess he got spooked because I'm quite inquisitive and suspicious, but beware ladies, they are turning to facebook and the smooth talk could sway any lady, especially one in a delicate position in life. Luckily, he messed with the wrong chick! I will post my final message to him, but I have some investigating to do.

Yes. I think about 1/3 of people do not react to information requests, because they mean "work" : learning about email headers, reading up about scams oneself. It´s so much easier to ask the green ones any time a shady emails flies in instead of learning how to identify scammers oneself :(
Not that I personally mind it much explaining the same over and over again. It´s just that "poster NOT reacting to requests" translates to laziness - or, possibly the norm: It means they are still talking ot the scammer, preferring to believe HIM :(
I don´t question people why they came to be here. Everyone has their own motives and own life stories behind it. None of my business IMO.
But deliberately not replying here I understand as "not ignoring scammer at this very moment".

No, even if he never gets a dime from you, he's happy he messed with the 'right' chick. Do your investigating but don't tell him what you find - please!

This is my worst scammer-victim nightmare:

TM: I know you're not really who you say you are.
Scammer says: Oh baby, why u say dat?
Scammer thinks: Damn, she's onto me. I wonder how she found out so fast?

TM: You've got pictures of a model. You don't look like a hard working contractor.
Scammer says: I be bossman baby my mens work in the cornsturctstion.
Scammer thinks: She's right! I better find a pic of some white dude who's working construction.

TM: You say you graduated from USC, but you're not listed on the alumni list and you don't write like you went past 5th grade.
Scammer says: What u mean baby? Must be mistake, I love you baby, ur so bootiful.
Scammer thinks: I will google that alumni list and pick a new name from there and that's who I will be next time. Oh and I can get Brudda Ogomooko who went to university to study English, to write me a better script to cut and paste, or maybe I'll just scam the Europeans for awhile. Their English isn't much better sometimes.

TM: You say you're in West Africa but your IP address came back a proxy server in Argentina! What's up with that?
Scammer says: it my frien computer and he from argentina...don u belif me baby...you need to turst me i love u baby
Scammer thinks: I have to tell my oga to get off the proxy servers once we've established the location as Africa.

TM says: Tell me the name of the orphanage and who's the sponsor of it. Who's paying you?
Scammer says: you need to turst yor man more i gots to go to work now
Scammer thinks: It shouldn't be hard to find some orphanage here or on the net. Or maybe we can get a nice fake web site built. The Chairman just bought some new credit card numbers so we could even buy a domain. That would really make our scam look good.

TM says: All of the above.
Scammer thinks: Dammit! This one got onto us fast. I better search and see if she's posted our information anywhere to warn away others. Dammit! She did. Okay, I'll just take 15 minutes out of my scammy day and make a new profile, using all the new things I learned from TM. Suntanned, ordinary looking guy, check. Change my name to USC alumni, check. Get better script, check. Find a desperate European woman, check. Use an email account without an IP, check. Make a fake website, check. I just love my helpful jobs.

^^This is a magnificent example of how are lad uses his tricks to scam their victims. If you call them out on it they will deny it and if you tell them there are posted here or anywhere else they will try to manipulate the others that you are simply slandering him and not to listen to you. Just cut off all contact and make him wonder what happened. Don't insult him as it will get you nowhere and as Pinky and others have said, it educates him into being a more successful scammer, which we do not want to happen.

Posting all of his information could not only benefit you but future victims who might have fallen for his deceitful tricks.

We are here to help so feel free to ask questions to the moderators and other members and will be glad to assist you.

@Pinky:
:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

@totalmisfit: Please PLEASE pay attention. What Pinky just laid out is THE WAY IT REALLY IS. We wouldn't kid you. If you'd like to learn how to bait the cockroaches there are a number of us who would be more than happy to teach you, but do not do this on your own ... you will end up doing more harm than good.

Which in turn will cause more victims to be scammed. Can you live with that?
Help us keep scammers stupid Post his details here to warn others, then walk away without explanation. Confrontation alerts scammers & makes them change their identities...which makes all your hard work outdated. It messes with their minds if they don't know why you walked away.

Here's what you really need to tell these women.

Date LOCALLY. If you can't call them on a local number that isn't blocked or private or going through some 3rd party exchange like google or magic jack, or if he's using a calling card....RUN! He's either not real or married or both.

If you can't meet them in person within a reasonable amount of time for a date....RUN!

Long distance relationships don't work. Find someone in your area not 2000 miles away.

Trust you gut instincts. Look for inconsistencies...do facts change, do details change? Liars mess up....they forget their lies at some point.

Don't be gullible ladies...if someone seems too good to be true, chances are he is.

NEVER give them personal information including address, phone number, and especially banking information.

Same goes for the men out there getting scammed. Why would you send your hard earned money to anyone you don't know and trust and have never even met?

Stop looking for love in the wrong places.

Facebook is full of scammers. I run a dating site, and I've seen some of my scam members have legit looking Facebook profiles, often with 100's of friends.

Trust nobody on Facebook.

Look in our Scammers4real thread. Most of the real pictures of who these scammers really are, are pulled from their FaceBook profiles. These idiots are so stupid they won't secure their pages for privacy because they still hope to attract people to victimize as well as build their network in hopes of seeming legit and attracting more people to victimize.
