Hi, I'm new here, unfortunately.. was scammed by a Nigerian scammer for $300. Consider myself lucky after what I've read from others. Anyway the pics he sent me have been used before as they were already in the Romancescam database from July '06 (how I found out - pg 41) and I have some others too. Shame, the guy in the pics looks like he's really nice. Does anyone know who he really is? I wonder if he even knows his pics are being used?

Anyway here is all the info I have for folks who are interested:

Profile on Yahoo personals. Wrote me a message with his yahoo IM: sonnypassions (used before I think - on database).

First contacted me through Yahoo, have seen him on other sites recently. Date.com was latest. He is now using another photo of dark haired guy under same username: sonnycoolworld (not smart). I contacted Date.com and told them who he was so hopefully he has been removed. Did the same on Yahoo.

After chatting for a month or so, used the BTA scam to get more money from me after using the mother sick with cancer ploy. Then sent me an email with att. of a cashier's check for $18K. Knew something was fishy then. Investigated and discovered who he was through your database. He sent me an e-card just before xmas but I have blocked any and all addresses I have. Don't want this loser to find me. Still very hurt and upset by this whole thing and feel like a total idiot for falling for his tricks. I sent him a package for his 'supposed' birthday, told him personal things I wish I hadn't, just makes me sick to think this scammer knows a lot of personal stuff about me. Hopefully nothing will show up anywhere.

Did I miss sending anything or do I need to send more info.? I have copies of chats etc. but don't want to post. I will post the new pics that I was sent so they can be added to the database though.

I did call and talk to him on my cell via an international calling card. Can he trace my number at all or get to my phone? I never gave him my phone no. so I wasnt sure. Any comments?

thanks for the info, that will do. The pictures most likey are stolen from somebody's profile (don't look like the modeling pictures). The innocent guy on the pictures most likely has no idea how his pics are being used.

This guy is currently posted on Match.com. I have alerted them already.
His pictures are of a very handsome white guy, blonde, blue eyed 6'3".
Says he's from NYC or NJ. He is not.
He is from Nigeria right now, originally from Cape Town, South Africa.
He says he is only child of two dead parents and widowed five years ago. She died from cancer.
He says he's an Art Collector but is not. Scammed money from me for duty tax on his collectibles being shipped to US. But later told me it was for a friends hospital bill.
He has several pics of himself in different parts of his house or with his friends. Very deceiving. He is very good at the stories/lies. Has a thick accent and his written English is very very bad.
His Yahoo messenger handle is mmlu375. He says this stands for make me love you....
If you come across this guy, run the other way. He is a sweet talker, falls in love instantly and even cries on the phone! The phone number he gave to reach him is +2347033080928.
He has money wired thru Western Union to 23 Garki Street, Abuja, Nigeria.
Be very careful. I consider myself pretty intelligent, but I got sucked into his story and game. Dont you do it. I will attach pictures.

Please do not report the scammer to the dating site he found you on, as they will only change their user name and then you can't find them again, and they wind up getting another women to scam and give them money, I keep track of all of my scammers and when they move to other sites or change usernames you can report them here on their site Your pic's did not come through try again

I am so thankful that I found this site and although I am shocked, I am glad that Wildpea, Greeneyes 96 and Della all were smart enough to post the emails and the alias' on this site.

He is going to his grave claiming he is not a scammer. He took me for 1250.00 and although its just money, its the principal. I will continue to alert women to this man.

He is a fraud and dont any of you think other wise....Thank you again for this site and helping me to see the devil in disguise.

I'm here if anyone wants to let me know anything else. He lives in Nigeria....he was born and raised in Cape Town. He is a fraud.

He is using the same pictures I have, as I have several. So he did change his handle, but I am still on that site and got him as a match with a different pic and a different handle.
So I just reported him again and included what his initial handle had been.
It maybe a waste, but if he is going to use the same stash of pictures, I'm going to bust him.
