How do I attract a scammer?

Postby doobs on Thu Jan 10, 2008 11:59 am

This is my first post so be gentle with me !!

How do I attract a scammer?
I unwittingly received a scam email a few years ago but have just realised what it was now after discovering this site and 419eaters.
I havent a clue how the scammer contacted me in the first place.
Please forgive me my request has been answered anywhere previously.

Any info would be appreciated.

Well what I do is, I send an email to the scammer´s address as posted here in any thread (preferable one whose details are still lacking).

^^Without more information it´s not possible to say "scam" or not. If she mentions words as "basic travel allowance" or "VISA fees", then be alert...

You "attract" a scammer simply because, in a way or another you chose (for perfectly good reason) to publish your data and address on the internet. This attracts real people and also criminals (and spam).
1) Google his/her email address + check on scamdigger.com
2) NEVER send money !
3) When you see it´s a scammer - BREAK UP all contact. Give no explanation. Just walk away.
4) Post up all details here for others to find - do not report his addy to Yahoo.

You one time used your email somewhere where it ended up on a list. Once this happens you start to recieve spam, including messages from a scammer. It does not happen much, but it does happen. It's how I got started. I responded to a mail like that , did some research and found out how big this dating scam world really is.

If you want to attract scammers on purpuse, you simple join a free dating website. After that they will come to you like flies to honey.

You can actually attract scammers by giving out your primary email address to stores who ask for your information to receive a credit card that offers some in-store incentives. I have done this , and caught the store , because I had a newly unlisted phone number when I applied. Suddenly , after the card came , after only 1 month I was getting phone calls from telemarketers. Stores will end up participating in the selling of lists , since their prior managements used to sell phone number lists , they have evolved. Since the problem was so bad , this large chain will not offer any online catalogue , due to the costs and problems of hiring advertising personnel who abuse their authority , while an online website is not earning it's keep or drives prices up.

They lose their jobs. And you lose your privacy. It is best to give out an email address that is not important. That way they will not receive answers or be able to find out what your likes and dislikes are. Another way to attract scammers is to join online casino's , where you also give your full information , maybe even a credit card number. You will notice your snailmail box will become a target for every casino , as they too ply their trade by selling and buying potential customer's informations. They are too obvious , as the very first thing you must do when you join a casino website , is you have to open a real account , and you also have to have a way to collect any potential winnings into an existing account you have , like VISA. Due to this , payments by cheques are always the most secure way , as you can at least prove that a fraudulent transaction took place. Through VISA , you are responsible for any charges on your bill , and they will immediately tell you that if you get ripped off. You then have to fight VISA to fight the scammers.

Oh I forgot one very important thing. You must be from North America, Australia or Europe (former east blocked countries not recommended). Then, these desperate scammers can see that you are one potential source of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to fill up their greedy wallets. They'll contact you and you will feel sick when you know that they are scammers!

Hello everybody :)
Greetings to all members of RS! I admire all of you for all your fighting spirits! :applause: :applause: :applause:
Schatzi Hyperactive clown ( I really enjoy the way you bait)
Murmufre Professor, applying intellectual theories and hypothesis on which your persuasion techniques are based
from to combat then outsmart and degrade those brainy ones. Give them the biggest "F " professor!
Red Zora Funny ways to deal with scammers but is really there when one needed you most. Thanks RZ! I really
enjoyed reading your post with your Harry , RedZora Hunnie!
Wayne You have my respect . Respect is something one deserve never asked.
FrumpyBB Friendly and gives fatherly advices (but don't fool me you are younger than my son!)
Pinky You know how to separate the real you and that scambaiter Pinky. Good work sister!
Dotti All your wise and intellectual advices I respect you very much.
Sasana Your sweet and innocent way but a good fighter is hiding behind your innocent way.
Crescentmoon I think we have a little similarity but you have more nerves and guts than me
Elena Your expertise to deal with these beautiful Russian scammers. I salute you
!Justamom Keep ignoring your Arthur. He has never been worth anything at all
!Arabian nights Your calm way to deal with these devils is really good. You annoy your scammer in a controlled way.
didi your calm and controlled way in dealing with your experience of being a former scammer'svictim.. Chins up sister!
I could have given comments to all of the others but I don't have enough time. To all members of RS we are individuals and our contribution no matter how and no matter what, is of great help . Keep on the good work everybody! I think I will just keep myself in the sideline as an ice breaker, commentator, broker, adviser, mediator or referee. In every battle we always need a mediator. Then I will apply for this job. This suits me better for the time being. I tried this scambaiting game by cloning myself. But I found out that I am not yet ready to face the devils. In just a matter of 4 days in Tagged I spotted at least 8 scammers. I tried to be the wicked one but still the real me prevailed. That was where I found out that I am not ready for combat yet. So I signed out from Tagged. Can you imagine that I got at least 200 messages everyday. My mailbox was very full all the time that I had no time to open every message. Everyday !You can just imagine how busy I was to answer these messages including these desperate members looking for someone out there or maybe just playing games. I felt sorry for these serious people but my blood rises to the cooking point when a scammer approached me. I really attracted many! It was fun but no not so funny when a devil approached this angel. Hugs and kisses to everybody! Roses dies on winter but the wild geese fly, fly to the sunny sky.
