Meeting a Ukrainian woman

Hello to everyone on this board! I have been searching for a forum on anti-scammers for some time, but was hesitant to join one since I have also read that scammers even have their own fake boards to plug their web sites and ladies profile! This board seems genuine so I am going to post my experiences here, and perhaps it will help someone as a guideline when meeting a woman from the Ukraine.

I am an American and live in the New York City area. Over three years ago I created a profile on a web site with the hopes of meeting someone special. I wasn’t specifically looking for anyone from the Ukraine, but I saw this profile of a Ukrainian woman and it seemed very real since she had many photos of herself in different places and situations. So I wrote to her.

She replied and we started to write to each other. She seemed genuine and did not ask for any money and was not pushy, just liked me. After some time we graduated to IM and web cam and it became very real. For many months we communicated and grew to like each other.

Then it was time to meet and there was no way I wanted to go to Kiev, being I had read so many horror stories about the Ukraine on the Internet. So I convinced her to meet me in a neutral place, a country she could travel to without much hassle for a visa. She worked on her visa and I then purchased an airline ticket in HER name. I told her I would not send her any cash and explained to her my reasons and she understood. This way only SHE can use the ticket. To make sure it was really her I convinced her to send me a scanned image of her passport, which confirmed her identity after months of communication.

So I flew to the country, and she flew in from Kiev, and we met and had a wonderful week together. The next meeting was to go to Kiev to visit her and having already met and spent time together, and learned all about her and her family and work, I felt more comfortable. So I flew to Kiev one week, she met me at the airport, and I stayed with her for one whole wonderful week.

Since then, I have flown to Kiev several times, and she has vacationed with me outside of Kiev where it is not to difficult for a visa for Ukrainians. It has all worked out well and I have become very familiar and comfortable with the Ukraine.

She still lives in Kiev because she has obligations, and I have my business in New York, but everything is going great! We decided that if it was very real for us, and it can happen to us, then it can be very real for others and happen to others. So we would like to help genuine people meet. So if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Yes, that sounds really beautiful! mostly fairy tale. Richard, you seemed to be really conscious about everything. Did not she get offended? I talk to some lady and want to propose meeting in a neutral area as well. But afraid she may get hurt. can you advise?

Any update? You know, we hear about success so rarely, it would be good if the people on here can follow up when something good happens

Actually you don't need to be afraid of going to Kiev, Ukraine. I know eventually you did but at first you did not because you heard so many "horror" stories.

The one thing I would advise against is meeting anyone for the first time in an airport. For safety reasons. You don't really know her. You're a foreigner with cash / credit cards. You get the picture. The best thing to do is book your own hotel accommodation and have the hotel arrange an airport transfer. Don't let her book anything for you whether it be apartment, hotel or airport transfers. I have met many such ladies in dating agencies who really are apartment agents pushing their apartments on you as soon as you meet.

Where to meet? I suggest a central location preferrably near your hotel. Ladies sometimes are reluctant to meet you inside your hotel so I suggest a cafe or restaurant or well known landmark near your hotel or in the centre of the city.

Kiev is a safe and enjoyable place but you have to be cautious like any big city.
