His yahoo address is benonash470@yahoo.com.

He uses the name Benson (Ben) Roberts.
He claims to be a construction engineer from the UK. He states that he is a widower with a 12 yo son name Marvin. He seemed pretty normal until he frantically contacted me online and said that he was in Nigeria on business with his son. He claims to have been mugged and his son was hurt. He had only a one way ticket and had no money left for getting back home or getting care for his son. I became suspicious since he never said anything about going on business to Nigeria. When I asked him what city did he fly into he couldn't immediately give me an answer. I googled his name and found out that he had used the same story on other women months before.

Most scammers just come up with ideas - their story. Unfortunately for the vast majority of them their stories fall apart if you bother to check up on them.

The tip offs that I look for are:

1. a professional photo - most people don't do that, so it is most likely a model's pic.

2. They write a long letter with all their details - obviously cut and pasted. No real thought went into it.

3. The profiles they have on dating sites usually has very little detail. Details mean they need to come up with a story, and having a story means being consistent. Which is hard to do.

4. Geography - or lack there of. If you say you are from Dallas you better know what football team is there.

5. To make sure that the pic is really theirs I ask them to take a new one with them holding a sign with my name on it. This is usually the point when the excuses start flying.

6. I usually play along with their requests for money and phone/address but never give them a real one or send any money. Just string them along as long as I can. My record is 8 months.

7. Once a request has been made for money they usually never talk about anything else. Perhaps a "how are you doing", then "when are you sending the money", why can't you send it, why, why...

8. Falling in love with you in 5 minutes. Willing to come live with you and do whatever you want. Again, just play with them, ask them if they'd mind you having sex with fido - most won't mind at all.

After a while you just get a sense whether someone is legit or not. Legit people are protective of their space, privacy, and don't ask for money from people they meet online.

He wanted me to wire money to Dr. Williams William at 25 Joseph Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. I of course played along and he is currently waiting on a money order he will never receive.

i met him on match.com (man_full_of_fun)...he is also on match uk (soulseeker470)...same story posing as widow with son, marvin (10yrs), consultant for construction company, but lives in both blacklick, ohio and lewisham, london (thats how i found his other match page!)...(2) weeks of wooing me and he slipped up on the death dates he had originally given me concerning his mother and wife--i called his bluff and he said it was a "typo"...yesterday, 02-may-08, i received a very frantic call from him wanting me to get on im...the money orders from the "greek businessmen" can't be cashed in lagos, nigeria where he had a business meeting...marvin is crying and wants to go home...he payed for some of the airfare but needed $1,800 to make up the difference...i told him i would not send him any money but only send him and marvin plane tickets (NOT!) but, he became hostile only wanting the money--i said "no" he said he would have to pay his hotel with "jeweleries"...today, he continued to call and im me to see how i was doing...i told him i was talking with someone else that i had met just (2) days ago and the new guy would be coming to the states tomorrow to see me and he said i "sucked" for breaking his heart, that it only took (2) days for this guy to come into my life after he had spent so much time with me...he said that i was "cheap" and a "hore" and to delete him and never speak with him ever again!...several days ago i checked his blacklick address via the auditors site and google: it's a hair salon (he said i was mistaken)...little "marvin's" photos are on another scam site...his yahoo email and im: engr1965robm..his telephone number is: 011 44 70 4578 7240...i saved all correspondence: emails and im's...i contacted the british embassy in lagos and lewisham police.

Once he has worked on you over a few weeks, claims he is extremely wealthly and says he is flying the the United States today to see you ... then you get an email from a St Thomas Hospital in London (which is bogus). The hospital will contact you several times, and if you do not respond, then Robert Mark will contact you stating he is not getting treatment until you send money to help him out ... he has currently been in this apparent hospital since Nov 13th, today is Nov 22nd. He still says that he is there but cannot leave until his hospital bills are paid for. He is still not getting monies from me as I have been playing with him claiming to be a victim of identity theft and that all my accounts got "ceased" by the feds. This little play-on-Robert Mark has been going on since Nov 13th ... I've been very creative with my excuses for not getting him any money ... ha ha. When I asked him for his hospital room to send him flowers or that I would fly there be by his bedside, he insists I stay in the USA and that he doesn't need anything sent. The hospital address does not mean anything. Once the money has been sent to UK, it can be collected in any city by showing the ID card, passport, etc. Many scammers have business partners in UK, this is probably the case. Another option is that he is using another victim in UK. But the final destination of the money will be Nigeria.

I would like to report a scam. Mr Nalkin Moore who reakons he is from Montreal in Canada saw a car in T&E that I am selling. He was very interested in buying it. He told me that I needed to pay $400 towards the shipping costs which was a total of $1000. He told me it was the law that I needed to pay 40% of shipping costs to secure the partnership of buyer/seller was authentic.(which started to ring alarm bells for me!)

He is working in partnership with a shipping Co. A1auto Transport in Nigeria - Williams Adebowale as Manager

Mr Nalkin sent me a bogus confirmation email from his bank (CITIBANK) advising me that he has deposited the funds (cost of my car and his 40% of shipping fee).
But will not be able to release the funds to my account until he received a scanned receipt of my transfer (western union transfer) with all the details on it.

I then wrote back to the Transport Co asking them to send me confirmation of Mr Nalkins payment of the shipping cost. He replyed back saying the "information is too sensitive to send" and he implied that I was skeptical.
Well I told him that I was and thought the deal was dodgy!

Anyway, later that day my husband had made the transfer to Nigeria,(against my wishes)
and then he came home and sent it after I told him of my suspicions about the deal.

Well as predicted, we have not heard from either of them. We are still emailing them with no luck of replies. It has been 9 days and my husband and I are not holding our breaths!

We have accepted that we have been scammed. But we do not want it to happen to anyone else. Please post these peoples names and their bogus shipping Co so they won't scam anyone else.
