Guess where those headers led us to. Lagos, Nigeria. Can you post up the TelSat email headers, so we can see if he's trying to spoof an email off them too?

One header was from Telsat and the second for the guy himself.

Here's the latest header for the Telsat email and here's the header.

By the way Telsat people have my outlook address... That scares me because it is the account I have with my provider. Is there a risk and should I have it changed.

So here's the header for the money request email

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a dear John letter to write and a scammer ass to dump.

Thank you so much again. I had no intention of giving him any money and I've known for a while he was a scammer... to many contradiction. You just help me so much in making my suspicions into confirmations.

Thank you again.

military.com looks to be giving out free email accounts to anyone that wants one, whether you're in the military or not. In fact I joined up myself and got one just to prove it could be done.

final scene

Postby petale45 on Sun Mar 08, 2009 3:52 pm

I've concocted a story, for the last two days... of seeing my ex at a store, then he phoned me, then stopped over, which the scammer didn't like at all... Told him he came without me inviting him and kind of reassured him I was still in love with him... so right now he's ok. Been slightly distant since yesterday. I'm going to send the goodbye email tomorrow. I believe he will keep the same identity as he was not found out.

He contacted me on Plenty of fish dating website and said he was from Montreal.

Hi Petale, I didn't read every word in this thread, so sorry if somebody already said this. The scam is in getting you to pay the $800 to a fake email address that is claiming to be Telsat. That is how he is planning to get money out of you. A real email from Telsat would be something like this: contactname (at) telsat.com (or telsat.co.nz)

As wayne pointed out, the military.com name is a free email account. So are engineer.com, consultant.com, clerk.com and others.

Did he give you a webpage for Telsat? If so, please post it so we can see if its a fake site spoofing the real company.

I assume that once he gets you to send money to the fake communications company, he will try to find other ways to get you to send money.

This is somewhat of a unique twist on the typical romance scam, but it still results in the same thing - the victim sending the scammer money.

Can you post up his personal email address and chat name to warn others?

I posted the email adress and name used by the scammer, the email adress and fake contact at TelSat, posted also his nick on the website where I met him and the name of the dating website. Posted conversations, 2 pictures, headers for both him and the Telsat company and also the website from which he's cutted and pasted most of the emails he sent me. That's pretty much all I had. Most of the conversation were in MSN.

I've also posted how I intend to let him down tomorrow, in a way that he won't feel like his fake identity has been compromised so he might try it again. I don't know what would be accomplished by making him try again, but I've been told not to tell him I know he's a scammer.

I'm not sure I understand, is his IP from Lagos Nigeria or from Canada??? Kind of confused here. Everything says he's a scammer, my guts tells me... but is he a canadian scammer... his english is so bad, he couldn't even be a french canadian scammer.

While it's possible that your scammer could have an accomplice in Canada, some web based email providers mask the user's IP address. Military.com could be one of those, and this could be the IP for military.com.

Sorry Patale, I didn't see his email address - is this it? cpt.bradwayxxx@yahoo.com

Does he use the chat name of cpt.bradwayxxx? or are you masking numbers with the x's?

The reason for not telling him that you know he is a scammer is so you do not educate him. If you tell him you know he is a scammer, he will try to get out of you how you discovered he is a scammer. Than he will fix some of the things he did wrong and perfect his scam for the next victim. Also we would rather have him continue to use the same email address and YIM since they are posted here, rather than switching to a new identity.

Does that make sense?

It does make sense and yet, it makes me feel bad when I think he can try on another woman and succeed.

Yes that's his email adress... no the XXX don't hide numbers... they are just xxx. He used another email also, bradx@yahoo.com but he stopped using it when a photo virus hit his msn account. He then created this second account capbradxx...

I was curious... this is a fairly new scam from what I've seen from different scam sites. And I'm still not getting the canadian thing versus the Lagos answer I got previously. Whether he's canadian or nigerian... he's a scammer... I guess that's all that matters.

He is in Nigeria. I have seen some Canadian IP's come from Nigerian scammers before. It has to do with satellite service providers. The important thing is that you realized it before you spend that $800 for the new "phone service".

The other option you can do is to just stop talking to the jerk. He will try to contact you for a few days...than just go away. You don't owe him anything, so you don't have to "break up" with him.

Does the IP address shown at http://world-secure-channel.com/setup/ look familiar to anyone? This explains everything.

The address doesn't look familiar to me, but then it's also all chinese to me. How does it explain everything???

Just to tell you the Satellite costs went up... It's now $910.00 Us.. as I'm in Canada, around $1200.

Finally, the break up is a female thing... just to show him he's not all that... that I would decide to dump him like an old shoe by falling in love with someone else. The jerk had the gut to tell me I cried waiting for him. I've got to dump him!!! I have to. It's the only satisfaction I will ever get. I get my closure wherever I can get my closure. LOL
