As is the nature of these things, the following phone number may be too late for most of whoever is reading this now. However, if, for the benefit of Google, someone of you who suspects or knows is a victim of fraud, has just sent money but it has not been picked up yet, here is what the Western Union website advises you to do:

* If you think you've been a victim of fraud, contact us at 1-800-448-1492.
* Forward any suspicious emails to spoof@westernunion.com.

It seems to be a toll-free number (for US residents). For anyone else, I think calling it is in all cases cheaper than losing money to a fraudulent person on the internet!
