Media Statement from Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS)
South African Police Service

Pretoria- A 31-year-old Cape Town woman and her Nigerian husband, together with other four Nigerian accomplices have been arrested for online dating fraud in Cape Town on Thursday morning.

Two suspects were arrested in Burgundy Estate while the rest were nabbed at their apartment in Summer Green, Cape Town. The arrests were as a result of an on-going investigations on the online dating scam in which unsuspecting women were targeted and robbed. Thus fur seven victims have come forward and have been conned a combined amount of close to R400 000.

The woman, who is suspected to have been the one who cashed out all the money market transactions deposited by victims, was found with R50 000 in cash when she was arrested.

All women who had been victims of online dating scam are urged to come forward so that their matters could also be investigated.

Very good news but not enough. Good to know that SA goes after them.
Confronting the scammer is WRONG!!! DON'T enlighten criminals with your wisdom. REPORT & BLOCK.
PHOTO VICTIM - "Do not confront the owner of the pictures, as they are victims themselves! You will only serve to further the terror and harm !" Silence Is Golden!!! I speak Polish.
